623 & 624 - All Good Things ...Must Come to an End

We are honestly in disbelief that we've finally made it here. This was 3 years in the making, and we're not gonna lie: there were times we didn't think we'd actually be able to finish it. But we're so glad we did and we're too emotional to put it into words right now. BUT! This doesn't mean "goodbye." We have a final  final wrap-up still to do for our own little podcast series finale that'll be out in two weeks! We'll update this post when we know when we're going to record it, but you should also keep an eye out on our social media pages too where we'll tell you a little more because we want to hear from you: Ask us anything! (Our anonymous Q&A form) Leave us a voicemail (732-98-CREEK or 732-982-7335)! We can't guarantee we can play all of them, but we'd love to hear from you. Leave us a voicemail or send us a voice memo with your #DawsonsCreekTaughtMe lessons We know it's been a rough time around the...

Study Hall #14 - Season 6 Recap

Here we are, nearing the end of the road... This Study Hall is a long  one, but we think it's just because we're savoring these last few episodes of our podcast! This week, we recap the season that was and argue about our character rankings. Charles' final series finale predictions: There is a wedding (and it's Joey’s wedding to either Dawson or Pacey) The other characters are all single (or at least not in a committed relationship) Dawson will be a director  Pacey is a restauranteur  Joey will be in a Ph.D. program, studying Comparative Literature Jen and Jack are working together in New York, possibly running a non-profit  Audrey is a TV personality (and divorced from Todd) Grams is alive!  Lily, Alexander, Bessie, Bodie, and Gail will all be present for the wedding Episode links: Ask Us Anything! 622 - Joey Potter and Capeside Redemption

No, that's not a Harry Potter book title... it's the last episode of the Season 6 timeline we've been seeing for the last 22 episodes! We can't believe we're going to say this...but we're OK with the Joey narration on this one. From Traci:  "I'm sticking with my theory that this episode takes place in a memory. At first I was thinking about how it would've been nice if it was Dawson's memory, though, and that maybe we should get this narrated by him... but I think it's fitting that this is the ending we get. And like we say in this episode...we're not mad about it." Episode links: Ask Us Anything! 621 - Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road

Goodbye, CJ, Uncle Bill, and Jack Osbourne. As rough as that fight at the end of the episode was, there's almost something a little comforting about seeing everyone back in Capeside and running through a million emotions again... Also, thanks for the kind messages during our unexpected break last week! Episode links: Our anonymous Q&A form is open! Ask us anything :) Meet Paula Cole's dog, Autumn! 620 - Catch-22

"Let Katie Holmes wear pants in peace!" Who could've predicted we would actually kind of be sad to see Hetson go? From Traci:  "I'm not sad to say goodbye to Rich or Sadia, who were both characters that felt poorly developed. I get wanting to write Pacey as this wunderkind of who could excel at any job, but I've just never been a fan of this stock broker stuff. Felt too out of place in the Creek  universe we've come to know and love." Also... any suggestions for our series finale watch party?? :) Got something to say? 619 - Lovelines

We don't even know what to say about this episode, except ... watch this video of an adorable baby panda on a chase to cleanse your soul. From Charles:  "My Dawson’s Creek spec script to replace this episode: There’s no CJ. Jen is adjusting to Gram’s new needs. Jack and David fight. Jack finds out about Gram’s illness. They all come together. Now where’s my one-time writing credit??" Episode links: VIDEO: Michelle Williams on The Daily Show  in 2002 5 Things Dawson's Creek Did Better Than The O.C. 618 - Love Bites

Love does bite! At least this episode wasn't terrible, even with the sad Poey break-up... and at another dance, no less! We guess a happy school dance wouldn't make for very compelling soapy teen drama... One question: Why do we need to keep seeing Harley and her world? Is it to give Joey something to do? Is it to draw parallels between Harley and Joey? Because... meh. From Charles: "At one point, Eddie calls Joey 'the most decent person I know,' which I think is a really sweet compliment. It’s in the same family of compliments that I tend to give (I once told Traci that she was my 'good friend'), and honestly, it sounds very Boston. 'Wicked decent.'" 617 - Sex and Violence

We were so hopeful that the last two episodes were signaling a huge shift in how this season was going! But alas... this one was a bit rough. We're especially unhappy with what's going on with Jen. Why are the writers pretending like it's OK for CJ to speak to her that way?? Episode links: Capesideathon Book Bingo Got something to say? 616 - That Was Then

Happy 2020! We're back and in the homestretch of our final episodes... and what a nice way to return to the show: with a return to Capeside – and the show's "heart"! From Traci: "Before we began recording this, I accidentally deleted a handful of production notes so there are a couple of things I forgot – the most important being a shout-out to one of our listeners, Cat, who started this fun 'book bingo' that is Dawson's Creek  themed! Go check it out here !" Episode links: Where Have All the Dallas Cowboys Gone? 615 - Castaways

We are unapologetic Poey shippers, and we're OK with that. From Traci:  "One thing I didn't get a chance to talk about during the episode this week is that I think Joey may be the first relationship for Pacey where he didn't feel like he needed to 'save' someone. And maybe that was a big part of why they ended up falling apart back in high school. Pacey felt inferior when he was with Joey because he felt like everyone was judging him, and that wore him down eventually. Not that that excuses his behavior and the way he broke up with her, but I think that also says a lot about how Pacey has always looked back on his relationship with Joey with regret." From Charles:  "Unrelated to the actual substance of the episode, but another reason I liked Castaways so much is the realization of the childhood dream of.. getting locked inside a big box store (especially with someone who is more or less your best friend)." Also... this is our last episode...

614 - Clean and Sober

It's time for a party! At least we get some screen time with each of the characters, although it would be nice to have stronger stories for Jack and Jen. But what's new... Also,  it is  a little wild that this is Emma's last episode and she and Pacey have pretty much not spoken (that we know of) since their week at the aquarium. The lack of closure is so frustrating on this show sometimes (OK, most of the time) and it's apparently making Charles very unsure of how much to invest in relationships on this show... 613 - Rock Bottom

612 - All the Right Moves

Would you buy a collection of short stories about Worcester? Sorry for the brief episode this week! Charles is studying for finals, but seeing as how we didn't have, like, half of the main characters in the episode this week... 47 minutes feels like that's what 6x12 deserves, right? 611 - Day Out of Days

In the style of Pete Wells' New York Times review of Guy Fieri's Times Square restaurant from 2012 , Charles presents his thoughts on 6x11: "DAWSON’S CREEK, have you watched Day Out of Days? Did you turn on your TV? Did you watch the show? Did it live up to your expectations?  Did despair grip your heart when Jack only showed up for six minutes? Or when the days of the week started fading in and out for no apparent reason? Were you bewildered about Pacey and Emma’s relationship? Jen at The Stand?  Do you remember season one, when all the characters were likeable and got good screen time and you cheered for all of them? (You must you sure referenced them a bunch this episode.) What accounts for the difference?" End scene. Also! It's the return of What Pacey Wore... how are we feeling about this orange lewk? 607 - Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell

One way or another... things aren't looking too good for Audrey :( From Traci:  "Sometimes I think about how certain storylines in Dawson's Creek  would be treated in 2019. I think for things like Audrey's slow breakdown, plus Jack's realization in last season's spring break episode about how off-track he's been, they'd be treated with a little more seriousness. We'll see it develop more with Audrey this season, as many of you know, but I'm still a little frustrated with how much they ignored Jack's story at the end of last season. I guess the true can be said for Jen's storylines in the past too... I think if Charles and I were to reboot the Creek , we'd probably just focus on all of the 'secondary' characters haha." 605 - The Impostors

Hope you enjoy our "abbreviated intro"! Traci is sorry :( Why don't people like this episode? Or maybe it was just the IMDb and TV.com reviewers... of all the episodes so far in season 6, this was the...least...bad? (At least it's an improvement over 6x02!) We really enjoyed the variety of stories we got, even though we would have liked more Jen. And Charles apparently wants to know more about Hetson and Eddie's dynamic. We have weird wants this week.
